Things You Should Know

Last updated 5/2021

Thank you for embarking on your musical journey with PianoJam ‘n’ Keyboard. We strive to make your time with us a fun and rewarding experience. Here are some things you should be aware of.

Mobile Service

We operate a mobile in-home tuition service and will travel to your place of residence within the shires of Joondalup and Wanneroo.

Lesson times

Sessions are available from Monday to Thursday (10.00am – 7.00pm) and Saturdays (9.00am – 4.00pm). Please call/SMS on 0411 087 874 to confirm availability. No lessons are held on Western Australian public holidays. Students have the option of continuing lessons throughout the school holidays unless it is advised that the business will be closed. PianoJam breaks from the end of the school year to the third week of January in the following year, as well as at various other times throughout the year as notified.

Lesson Fees and Payments

Lesson fees are published here.  To reward your loyalty we guarantee that your agreed lesson fee will not increase for at least 12 months from the date of joining. Lesson fees are invoiced monthly-in-advance and are payable by electronic funds transfer. To ensure the smooth and efficient running of PianoJam please pay invoices by the due date.

Materials

The cost of materials we purchase on your behalf is chargeable at its recommended retail price. Materials may include method books, sheet music or other commercially produced items. We also reserve the right to charge a fee for the printing of large works. The cost of these items are itemised on your monthly invoice.

The Role of the Parent/Guardian

Parents play a vital role in the success of music lessons. It's important that parents establish realistic and predictable practice routines and 'problem solve' areas of frustration that younger students may be experiencing. Parents should encourage free exploration of the instrument so that the student can make important musical connections and observations necessary for learning.

Remember to be present, attentive and encouraging at all times!

Lesson cancellations / deferrals

We understand that lessons may need to be cancelled or deferred at short notice due to a sickness, accident or family emergency. For all other reasons a notice period of at least 48 hours is required. The notice period gives us an opportunity to arrange a rescheduled lesson for another student or use the time for other productive means. Cancelled lessons are non-refundable but you will be offered up to 2 free rescheduled lessons per rolling quarter. If your teacher is unable to deliver your scheduled lesson you will be given the option of a rescheduled lesson or a credit to your next invoice. Your teacher reserves the right to honour lessons cancelled by you by way of an online lesson or pre-rerecorded lesson plan.

Should you decide to cease lessons permanently, a notice period of at least 14 days is required. The final two lessons will be invoiced whether the student takes them or not.
